The Great Get-Together will take place over the weekend of June 17 and 18. People are being invited to come together with friends, neighbours and others they don’t yet know for Bodmin's own Great Get Together.
It follows the first anniversary of Jo Cox’s murder on June 16 last year and will go towards breaking down barriers in our community, getting people together and making space to talk.
The weekend will be one of fun, family, friends and food.
So what is a Big Lunch?
The Big Lunch is a simple idea from the Eden Project; where as many people as possible across the UK have lunch with their neighbours annually on a Sunday in June in a simple act of community, friendship and fun. This year the mass participation day is the 18th of June.
The idea is that by starting simple, all sorts of friendships, ideas and projects can come out of a Big Lunch. It gets people together and talking; with a few inspired folk, it can lead to people doing more within their community, and tackling the issues that matter to them most. People who’ve done it have told us some great things.
This year The Big Lunch is taking place around the world on Sunday 18 June, forming part of The Great Get-Together weekend; a partnership with the Jo Cox Foundation aiming to get communities to come together to celebrate connections and commonality.
So, bake a cake, make a salad, bring a curry or just grab a pasty and come and join us on the 18th -- Narrisa Lawn - 11am - 4 pm..
