Dignity Bags
We noticed that while we were helping address Food Poverty with the Fare Exchange there were gaps in the support being provided. Period poverty was an increasing issue as well as access to other essential items and hygiene products. A dignity bag is about making sure everyone has access to life's necessities while doing so in a way that provides both dignity and joy.
Dignity bags are being distributed as part of our Yes project, providing youth essential support as we move through the pandemic. Through the YES project we are distributing extras alongside food parcels to families with kids, ensuring that while no child goes hungry at the same time every young person has access to sanitary products, the ability to maintain good personal hygiene as well as something to treat themselves.

Over the coming months, National Lottery Community Fund have funded our YES project which will allow for an additional 260 dignity bags to be distributed, this will help address some of the growing need.
Initially bags are being distributed across Bodmin but as we secure the money to produce more, we will work with other grassroots community projects across Cornwall allowing them to distribute them across the communities they know, helping ensure they reach those most in need. As well a sanitary and hygiene products the bags always contain feel good items like chocolate. This allows us to not only give back some dignity but spread joy at the same time, a helping hand that can often make all the difference for those who have very little. |
