Happy Birthday to us, Happy Birthday to us !
This week we reached a brilliant milestone with us becoming 2 years old and we are kinda really happy about it.
It hasn't been easy and we have been faced with many things that many others may not have managed to overcome, serious illnesses, graduations, finance problems, TAX RETURNS !!!, bringing on new directors and so much more.
If we had to point out our biggest challenge it has been finding finance to do the things we have set out to do. The rejection of a funding application can turn things quite low in house and sometimes it always seems to be about the money which is so far away from what we want. Often its to cover just the basic things like insurance as we realised that salaries are way over the horizon and but a dream at this point.
And then that raises the question? why do we keep doing what we do for no or very little monetary reward?? Maybe we simply love what we do or maybe we see the need for change and we want to actually do something to make it happen no matter how small or large it is. What ever the reason, we are 2 years old this week, we have done this now fo r2 years and there is no sign of us stopping just yet.
However, we have been pushed at times to throw everything in and I think that's normal in the first year for many companies and ours is no different. Running any company has its challenges and doing it on a shoestring really does push you out of your comfort zone.
It would also be easy now to look at what we have achieved in the last 2 years and it soon adds up to quite a list. Looking back through some of our blogs will give flavor of what has been achieved and yes, we are quite proud of what we have managed to do and the fact we are still here.
The future actually looks quite exciting with our main 2 projects and all the other bits we are involved in.
TeX - Textiles with a Difference has been really working hard and over the next week should have a huge announcement to make, a game changer and something that may very well turn it into a very sustainable project. Again, this has been set up and run completely without funding to date. A hard task but with determination, belief and a very generous community its paying off now and BIG things ahead.
COGS - our community support project is again doing real well. We have gone far beyond out expectations and the KPI`s we set out have been blown off the charts. It shows us that our grass roots approach and our willingness to go that extra mile really does work.
Erasmus is part of our future as it has been part of our past. The next 2 years should be spent on a youth project that brings more countries together and breaks down barriers to inclusion. This project is on The Saints Way that goes through Ireland, Cornwall, France, Spain and Portugal. We aim in partnership to join these countries together to show we have more in common through The Saints Way.
So that briefly covers where we are, where we have been and where we are going.
We were due to have cake last week, as you do, but the snow kept us all apart and it just wasnt possible. It will happen later though, as I am sure we will have something big to shout about this year and I hope very soon.
