Youth Work in the Digital Age is a training course taking place in Cornwall, United Kingdom. The project is funded by Erasmus + and concentrates on the European Union Youth Strategy, focusing on investing in the skills employers look for, such as entrepreneurship and organizational skills. Main activities of the course are related to usage and management ICT (Information and Communication Tools), allowing for improvement quality of youth workers’ work. By merging knowledge from different sources and applying active work methods, such as workshops, working in groups and presentations, the organizers would like to improve participants’ competences and develop a broader understanding of practices, policies and systems in education. 30 participants from Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Poland, Turkey and United Kingdom is taking part in the training course. We aim to stimulate participants’ creativity. For this purpose we invited two young entrepreneurs from Falmouth to lead training session about creating something from merely idea. Fred Martin and Tom Ulander from F5 specialise in creative processes and ideation. Their knowledge on the topics comes from extensive research in the area for several years. They are experienced in creative problem solving and offering potential solutions to multiple businesses and this experience allows them to provide expert training to individuals studying in this field. The main aims of the training course was to teach participants how to use digital tools, deepen their knowledge about social media use and management, gave better understanding of potential of internet and communication tools. However, we concentrated on putting gained knowledge into practice. Crowdfunding campaign seems to combine all above aims, and, importantly, could be extremely beneficial by providing long term profits both for individuals and communities. We managed to invite founders and owners of crowdfunder.co.uk – Simon and Lisa. They visited Eden Project to lead training session about crowdfunding – its definition, kinds and mechanisms, factors responsible for campaign’s success and limitations.
