COGS through COVID

16/6/2020

We have always tried to champion now ideas and community projects and through the pandemic there has been no exception as we move to new ways of working, today is a good day to look back and reflect on how COGS has evolved over recent weeks and to celebrate the first big successes since lockdown. Despite restrictions we have still been able to find ways to support new community projects in starting up. There has been a lot of demand as community projects are facing new challenges, new community needs emerge and ore people are inspired to lead change in their community.

Today we helped launch a community helpline for the Bodmin Community with Earth23 CIC, as part of our work with the COGS project. We are delighted to have been able to see this to fruition and to have been able to support a part of that process. The number is free to call, manned by local volunteers who know your community and is open from 8 am until 9 pm, 7 days a week.
The phoneline will serve three key purposes; giving people who are isolated someone to talk to that knows and understands their community, connecting people across the Bodmin community with the different activities and projects in the area, and to provide an additional point of contact for those who need a food parcel delivered.

There have been all sorts of amazing people helping bring the community throughout the lockdown and through the phone line, hopes to be able to connect more people in and across the community. The phone line will help people from across Bodmin to find out about all the different activities, community projects and ways they can get involved in the great things that are happening across Bodmin. particularly as we get used to new guidelines and slowly more activities start up again.

The phone line will provide a space where people can talk in confidence. It can be used for reassurance, a friendly voice to talk to or just someone to listen. As well as providing information on the different activities on offer in Bodmin the phone line volunteers will be able to allocate callers who need them with a food parcel delivery.

If you want to provide an update for activities you are providing to the Bodmin so callers can be made aware of your project or any changes, please email help@culutivatecornwall.com.

The number to call for the Bodmin Community Phone Line is - 0800 009 6737
