Tex with a difference really makes a difference in helping to create sustainable communities.
Over the last few months we have started to work with some fantastic companies and community groups and our fashion show is a combination of this effort. Working with great companies like SeaSalt- the clothing company, and with other industry and community donations of fabrics, we have help to divert over 1 ton of textiles from landfill by creating fantastic products and fashion that we will be showing off in a day of wonder and wow. The fashion show idea was created after a local youth dance group, KBSK, came to us looking for ways to gain more experience in public performance and they suggested that a fashion show would be a great way to do this as this will give them the opportunities they are looking for. For our part we are looking to raise funds to run workshops where we will be able to teach people of all ages and abilities to sew and make their own products or accessories. So far we have had great demand for the workshops and especially on the popular Dignity Bags workshops of which we would like to expand on. The money raised will be used to provide the extra equipment and staffing to do this. Our Crowdfunder is here https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/tex-fashion-show/ How we do things ;- Not only do we collect surplus textiles and clothing, recycling and diverting from landfill, we also sort it and pass some on to local charities that provide no cost clothing to those in need. But that's not the only thing! We also create employment by making Eco Products from the recycled textiles from selected trade waste. Working with local people who really benefit from the enterprise through teaching and sharing of knowledge, creating workshops and demonstrations of what can be made. And if this isn't enough, we then use some of the profits to better the communities we live in. This includes Share Fairs and markets with no money where we bring communities together with no barriers to inclusion and Carnival costumes making workshops where we help with costumes, flags and bunting and much more! TEX is really are making a big difference in our communities, with our environment and with our young people. It would be great if you could help us do even more. https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/tex-fashion-show

A date for your diary ! 6th May, Cornubia Hall, Par.
We are having a fashion show like no other and you need to be here! On Sunday 6th May TEX- Textiles with a difference and KBSK Performing Arts will be coming together for TEX Fashionista. Come and join the fashion revolution for an event of fabulous fashion, entertainment and a chance to shop the latest styles and trends. The fashion show idea was created after KBSK Performing Arts came to TEX looking for ways to gain more experience in public performance and they suggested that a fashion show would be a great way to do this as this will give them the opportunities they are looking for. Though this is a free event we ask that you please give generously as all proceeds on the day will go to supporting KBSK Performing Arts in their bid to hire a bus to take their students for a theatre experience. You can also donate through TEX’s Crowdfunding campaign where proceeds will go to providing more workshops in the local community and expanding upon our existing community work.
