Cultivate Cornwall are Seeking Prizes for a Raffle![]() We are currently working on a project to send young disadvantaged people from Cornwall abroad. Being the poorest county in the UK the opportunities available to young people to experience traveling are hugely restricted. This is added to by the number of tourism jobs which restrict the times that many people can go away due to work, leaving no time that both parents and children are legally allowed to go abroad at the same time. As a result, we will be holding a raffle over the summer to raise money to allow as many disadvantaged young people in Cornwall to experience travel for the first time. To do this we are currently looking for prizes that can be donated to the raffle. ![]() Increasing mobility of young, local people is one of the objectives that Cultivate Cornwall have been striving to achieve since day 1. We believe that traveling can provide huge benefits to young people from broadening their horizons, to providing international learning in an engaging way. Traveling can also be hugely advantageous for developing career opportunities as many larger companies look for international experience as a valuable asset as being able to experience different cultures is essential to allowing a large company to operate globally in an effective way. Furthermore, additional benefits that come from traveling include; learning about becoming independent, building confidence, pushing you out of your comfort zone and helping you find yourself to name a few. ![]() We believe that if we are able to achieve the outlined benefits we will in turn be able to increase opportunities available to young and disadvantaged people in Cornwall whilst strengthening their competences while at the same time increasing their aspirations and drive to succeed. We want to be able to reach as many people as possible and to do so we need to raise as much money as possible. We have worked to build partnerships with various travel suppliers including animal conservation groups in Africa and a learning voyage through Nepal working on Community projects. To provide specific opportunities focusing around individual development we hope to offer trips like these. We also intend to have funding options available to individuals and groups who wish to go somewhere specific for a particular reason, and they could then apply for funding to do so. If you are able to donate a prize to our raffle please get in touch at harrysdeacon@gmail.com Thank you.
